Engage 2 solves a narrower problem than the rest of the Loop lineup. Not "block noise," but "take the harsh edge off a loud room while still following a conversation." Hearingtracker's lab testing measured it at the lightest end of Loop's range, around 16 to 20 dB (SNR), which is the point: too much reduction and speech gets muddy along with the noise.
Real-world write-ups consistently describe the same effect. One reviewer testing it at a busy rooftop restaurant, loud music, clattering plates, a table of friends talking over each other, wrote that after putting Engage 2 in, "the noise of dishes and muffled conversations receded into the background," but when their name was called across the table, "I heard it clearly and didn't feel cut off." Another reviewer picked the clear color specifically because it's barely visible in social settings.
This isn't the model to reach for at night or at a concert (Dream and Experience 2 exist for those). It's the one to keep in a bag for noisy social situations where you still need to hear people talk.
